At Del Monte Fresh Produce one of our highest priorities is the safety of our products. Significant efforts and resources go into maintaining food safety programs that include good agricultural and good manufacturing practices (GAPs and GMPs) in our farms, as well as Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), environmental microbial testing and HACCP programs in our fresh cut plants. Implementation and verification of these programs is done through internal and external audits, continual training of our personnel and certification of our facilities against well recognized food safety standards accepted by customers.
Food safety research is carried out in several venues including our corporate R&D lab and at various production facilities. Examples of recent research projects include validating temperature requirements for shelf life, sensory evaluation of current and future varieties and evaluation of promising biocides for washing and sanitizing products and processing lines.
Integrated with our packaging and operation units, the Del Monte Fresh Produce Food Safety management system provides detailed records and controls to deter bio terrorism threats and ensure traceability for all of our products.
